what is empathy??????????
Empathy is the experience of understanding another person's thoughts, feelings, and condition from his or her point of view, rather than from one's own. Empathy definitions encompass a broad range of emotional states, including caring for other people and having a desire to help them; experiencing emotions that match another person's emotions; discerning what another person is thinking
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SYMPATHY AND EMPATHY
Sympathy means the feeling of sorrow or commiseration for the hardships, problems and pain caused to another person. It is often misconstrued with empathy which refers to an individual’s ability to understand what another person is going through, by perceiving himself in the same situation.
WHY EMPATHY IS SO IMPORTANT FOR A BETTER COMMUNICATION
Empathy leads to helping behavior, which benefits social relationships. We are naturally social creatures. Things that aid in our relationships with other people benefits us as well. When people experience empathy, they are more likely to engage in prosocial behaviors that benefit other people. Things such as altruism and heroism are also connected to feeling empathy for others.
WHY SHOULD U PRACTICE EMPATHY IN YOUR DAILY LIFE
- 1)You will be more likely to treat the people you care about the way they wish you would treat them.
- 2)You will more clearly understand the perception you create in others with your words and actions.
- 3)You will understand the unspoken parts of your communication with otheR.4)You will better understand the needs of your customers at work.
- 5)You will have less trouble dealing with interpersonal conflict both at home and at work.
- 6)You will find it easier to deal with the negativity of others if you can better understand their motivations and fears. Lately when I find myself personally struggling with someone, I remind myself to empathize and I immediately calm myself and accept the situation for what it is.
- 7)You will better understand the needs of people around you.
8)You will be a better leader, a better follower, and most important, a better friend
